I highly recommend an electric krumkake iron, they heat up quickly and evenly and have a timer function.
Chocolate Krumkake Batter Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 2/3 cup water
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 Cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
Directions:
- In a small pot, bring the water to a boil.
- Remove from heat, add the butter, and gently whisk until the butter is melted and well combined.
- Add the sugar and mix until dissolved.
- Add the flour, egg, vanilla, and cocoa powder. Mix until combined into a thin batter.
- Using an electric krumkake iron, set the control dial to the appropriate setting according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Pour about a 2-3 inch circle on the center of the iron and continue to bake using your iron’s instructions.
- Once finished, remove with tongs, and quickly roll into an ice cream cone shape before it cools using a krumkake rolling pin.
- Continue making all the cones and let cool completely before serving fresh with ice cream.
