Pretty Krumkake Ice Cream Cones Recipe
Homemade ice cream cones are as easy as making waffles! With this simple batter recipe and a pretty krumkake iron, you can make beautifully designed fresh ice cream cones in no time at all. There are many different designed irons to choose from and a variety of iron types from stovetop to electric. I highly recommend an electric krumkake iron, they heat up quickly and evenly and have a timer function.
Krumkake Batter Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 2/3 Cup Water
- 1/4 Cup Unsalted Butter
- 1/2 Cup Sugar
- 1 Cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1 Large Egg
- 1/2 Tsp Vanilla Extract
Directions:
- In a small pot, bring the water to a boil.
- Remove from heat, add the butter, and gently whisk until the butter is melted and well combined.
- Add the sugar and mix until dissolved.
- Add the flour, egg, and vanilla. Mix until combined into a thin batter.
- Using an electric krumkake iron, set the control dial to the appropriate setting according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Pour about a 2-3 inch circle on the center of the iron and continue to bake using your iron’s instructions.
- Once finished, remove with tongs, and quickly roll into an ice cream cone shape before it cools using a krumkake rolling pin.
- Continue making all the cones and let cool completely before serving fresh with ice cream.
