Meringue Hearts Recipe!

These meringue hearts are a super easy delicate cookie perfect for Valentine’s Day! You will love how easy they are to make. They are so simple and delicious, you’ll want to make a different version of them every holiday!

Meringue Hearts Recipe!

Ingredients
3 Egg Whites (Room Temperature)
3/4 Cup Sugar
1/2 tsp Cream Of Tartar

Instructions

  1. In an electric stand mixer with a whisk attachment and CLEAN bowl, whip the egg whites on high until frothy (a few minutes).
  2. Add the sugar a little bit at a time while continuing to whisk on high.
  3. Add the cream of tartar and continue to whisk until stiff peaks form. This should take about 5-10 minutes. Keep an eye on the mixture and check by flipping over your whisk attachment. If the meringue stands straight up when you turn your whisk upside down, it’s ready to pipe!
  4. Add a drop of pink or red gel food coloring and gently fold into the meringue with a rubber spatula.
  5. Add your pink meringue to a piping bag fitted with an open star piping tip.
  6. Pipe heart shapes on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet starting with the upper left side of a heart. Pipe a dollop and pull down to the tip of the heart. Repeat with the right side, joining the two pieces of the heart at the bottom. You can use a toothpick to fix any errors at the tip of the heart shape.
  7. Bake immediately after piping at 200F for 2 hours. At this point (depending on the humidity of your home), your meringues should be mostly crispy or have a little chewiness to them. I actually like eating them like this but most people like them completely dried out and crisp. If that is the case, turn off the oven without opening it and let them sit in the oven as it cools for an additional 2 hours. Your meringues should be crispy all the way through!
  8. Serve them right away or store them in an airtight container.
