As we prepare for child vaccination and this pandemic is (hopefully) coming to its final days, I’ve been finding ways to continue keeping my family safe but having fun. Something I’ve missed is going to fancy dinners with my sweetie. A great way to enjoy a safe and socially distanced dinner out is to have a picnic! I found myself adding more and more to my collection of picnic items during these last two years. No need to worry about that missing luxurious ambiance that you would get at your favorite fancy restaurant. I have you covered with these beautiful details that you can use forever!

I made my favorite baguette recipe for this bruschetta appetizer. You can find my artisan bread recipe here and in my fall book! Simply shape the dough into four equal pieces in the shape of baguettes when you are doing a final proof. Fresh homemade bread is such a lovely addition to any picnic. Not only does it taste marvelous, but it’s also a nice treat for your dining party. For the main course, I placed an order for pick up at our favorite Italian restaurant. It takes the rest of the cooking duties off of me so I can also enjoy the going out experience.

  1. The most perfect and functional wine table of all time! This thing is an invention masterpiece. The leg screws off and attaches to the bottom of the table along with a set of charcuterie tools. There’s just enough room for an appetizer and slots for your wine glasses so they don’t get dirty.
  2. My favorite wood handle picnic flatware. I love the look of these inexpensive wood handle silverware pieces. They seem to go with any al fresco dining experience I put together!
  3. Green plaid blankets. This is a great blanket for a cozy wrap on those chilly nights or to line your chairs for a fall print detail. I made my own cushions with this fabric. But these blankets will certainly do the job!
  4. Forest green plates. When I find a picnic basket I love, chances are that I dislike all the plastic pieces inside or it’s vintage and needs replacements. These plates are the perfect color for this basket and overall style.
  5. My must-have napkin of the season. Pottery Barn’s pretty pumpkin print was a necessity for this basket.
  6. Glass containers. I always opt for glass instead of plastic because it’s better for the planet but also, it’s just so much prettier. Win-win.
  7. The basket. I found my basket at a thrift store and refurbished it but this one is almost an exact match!
  8. The furniture. These folding wooden loungers are so luxurious. They are my favorite piece of this design bringing the luxury of home details to the great outdoors. Do yourself a favor and invest in a large wagon for easy transport of this entire collection.
