A Ghoulishly Green Get-Together
A Ghoulishly Green Get-Together
Hosting a monster mash at home is all about color play and eyeballs, lots and lots of eyeballs! Green & Black is my go-to for Frankenstein-style tradition; however, I think a Purple People Eater Party would be a super fun alternative! For the traditional Frankenstein lovers, I put together some monster-inspired dishes with an all-green pumpkin tablescape for your next monster mash!
The Table
The centerpiece for many of my Halloween and Fall parties usually includes a ton of pumpkins. I love that I can reuse them in decor, bake with smaller squash varieties, and enjoy them in a variety of ways. I picked up shades of greens from local stores and put together this centerpiece mixed with some tall taper candles, which I got in green ombre here. The plates are fluted green, topped with black linen napkins and felt monsters I pulled from an old garland. Home Goods is a great place to find non-traditional items for napkin rings/toppers. I liked the look of gold with this combination, so I went with gold-rimmed glasses and all gold silverware.

Laboratory Cocktails
If you want to make a deliciously green cocktail, a quality matcha powder is your best bet! I have learned the hard way that not all matcha powders are created equal. I bake with this particular matcha powder for its rich hue and delicate flavor, but it’s also awesome in drinks. Dry ice is my favorite way to spookify a cocktail, handle with care!
Matcha Monster Martini
Ingredients:
- 1 tsp matcha powder
- 1 oz hot water
- 2 oz coconut milk
- 1 1/2 oz gin
- 1 oz amaretto liqueur
- green olives for decoration (optional)
- dry ice (optional)
Directions:
- Combine the matcha powder with the hot water and whisk to combine.
- To a cocktail shaker, add the matcha liquid, almond milk, gin, and amaretto liqueur. Top with ice and shake.
- Strain into a glass.
- For optional decoration: add two green olives to a toothpick and hang off the side of the glass rim. Add a small piece of dry ice (handle with gloves). And serve! Wait for the dry ice to dissolve completely before consuming.

Appetizers
Howling Jalapeño Poppers
Makes: 16 poppers
Ingredients:
- 8 jalapeño peppers
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 3 tbsp shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup panko crumbs
- black olives, for decorating
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 400°F and prepare a baking sheet.
- Wash and slice the peppers lengthwise. I like to scrape out about 75% of the seeds from the interiors, but you can remove more or less depending on how spicy you like your poppers.
- To a small bowl, stir together the cheeses. Fill the halved shells and dip face down into the panko crumbs.
- For the faces, carefully slice black olives into eye and mouth shapes before adding them to the tops.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the shells begin to wrinkle.

Dinner
FocaccianSteins! I love these individual focaccia monsters inspired by my spider focaccia recipe you can find here! I simply divided the dough recipe into 4 small squares and decorated them with spooky faces. I used black olives, fresh dill, radishes, mushrooms, cilantro, and red onions.

Stuffed Pepp-O-Lanterns
Taco night, Halloween edition! For these stuffed green peppers, I cooked up taco meat and added my favorite toppings like cilantro, onion, sweet corn, and tomatoes before baking in hollowed out, carved, and oiled green peppers. My husband likes to turn his into fajitas, while I like to eat them just like this with hot sauce.

All Stitched Up with Dessert!
Finally, these cookies, adapted from Constellation Inspiration‘s Matcha Neapolitan sugar cookies, are a total hit and surprise! I’ve never cared for matcha-flavored desserts, but this combination is so unexpected and delicious! Get the recipe for these Frankenstein Stitched Cookies here!
